Chateau Valley-joanis is in Luberon, in the east of Avignon and the North of Aix-en-Provence in the south of the Valley of the Rhone, on the site of an old Roman villa, of which foundations emergent still on the bottom of the property. Jean-Louis Chancel rediscovers in 1977 this Castle, which carried during several centuries the Armorial bearings of Jean de Joanis, secretary of the King Louis III of Naples. During twenty years following, 186 hectares of vineyard of Cotes du Luberon are planted. Taking as a starting point the gold rules of the Dominican order, the architect Jean-Jacques Pichoux gives birth to under his pencil from the chaix covered from old tiles, which seem to shelter since the origin of times: the material of wine making more sophisticated, the chaix with barrels, the air-conditioned warehouses. Cecile Chancel, with the assistance of Tobbie Loup de Viane, celebrates landscape designer, lance three terraces of gardens which surround the Castle, to slow down the ocean of the vines.
